Victim of fatal stabbing in Butler identified

Butler City police are investigating the death of a Pittsburgh man who was stabbed multiple times and shot Sunday evening during an assault in Butler.

Hakeem Moran, 31, of Pittsburgh, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital after he was found stabbed and shot at the scene at 109 College St. He died later that night from his injuries, according to police. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired and were met by two victims, who said they were assaulted by three unknown Black males, according to police.

Moran, who was found lying in a nearby yard, was treated and taken from the scene by Butler Ambulance. He died that night at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to police.

An autopsy revealed that Moran was stabbed multiple times and shot once, police said.

City police are investigating and following up on leads.

Butler Township police and state police assisted city police at the scene.
