2 running for Donegal supervisor seat

Both have worked part time for twp.

DONEGAL TWP — Democrat Michael Haid and Republican Dalton Geibel will face off during the Nov. 2 general election in a race for a Donegal Township supervisor position.

Both are running for public office for the first time, though Haid currently holds a township supervisor seat, and both are familiar with the township, as they've worked for the township part time.

Further, maintaining the roads is a priority for both Haid and Geibel.

Haid, who has not previously run for public office, took over the term of a former supervisor in fall 2020.He said he's worked part time for the township since the early 1990s. He is a current supervisor, having been appointed to finish the term of a previous Donegal Township supervisor, who died in 2020.Haid said his main concern if elected to another term would be to maintain the roads for community members.“I'll just try to keep things going,” Haid said.According to Haid, some big issues within the district are littering and the destruction of road signs. Some “Watch Children” and speed-limit signs have been painted on and ruined every weekend. Haid said there are no leads on who the culprits are.“That's tax dollars down the drain,” Haid said.

This is Geibel's first time running for public office, too. He currently works part-time for the township helping with water maintenance, and wants to keep the township in working order.“The township is in good shape,” Geibel said. “I want to do my part to keep it that way.”Geibel said he also wants to keep up the road maintenance in the township if elected.“I think we should stick with the system they have in place to keep the roads in shape for the public,” Geibel said.According to Geibel, something that needs done in the township is the rewriting of ordinances.Certain noise and building permit ordinances need to be updated to benefit the township, he said.“It needs to be done to keep the township on the right track,” Geibel said.
