Butler Twp. police join drug take-back

Butler Township police will join other law enforcement agencies in accepting unwanted or unused medications during the annual drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart in Butler Commons.

The event will have a secure, safe process for disposing of unused, unwanted or expired medication.

The program is anonymous. People disposing of medication will not be asked questions or asked for identification. People should remove identification from prescription labels before disposing of medication in original containers.

Containers with liquid medication should be tightly sealed.

Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted. Illegal substances should not be placed in the collection containers.

Batteries should be removed from vape pens and other e-cigarette devices. If batteries can't be removed from those devices, people should check with stores that accept them for disposal.
