Butler Catholic School is rolling into the end of October with a unique kind of Halloween fun.

On Tuesday afternoon, students participated in a Pumpkin Roll tournament.

Each class decorated their pumpkins yesterday, submitted them for the weigh-in, and readied them for what's become a fall tradition at BCS.

Pumpkins ranged from 13 to 24 pounds. Decorations included the Lorax, Superman and a mummy.Class pride was evident as the tournament ensued. Classes in each grade were pitted against each other, narrowing down the group to eight pumpkins. They went head-to-head, before the final four competed, which further shrunk the field to two final classes — Mrs. Shauna Hohn's second grade classroom and Mrs. Carol Dorcy's eighth grade classroom. The eighth graders ultimately won in a close matchup. The class wins a pizza party.
