Butler County Symphony is a treasure

As a former Butler resident, I recently attended the Butler County Symphony on Oct. 2 with my sister and friends. I am not sure if you are aware of the hidden gem you have.

The orchestra, which ranges from young to mature musicians, is outstanding, and you should be proud to have such a talented group of musicians in your area.

The recent concert featured a vocalist, Dee Daniels, who has performed all over the world and it was truly first-class.

I currently live in a city with the same population as Butler, but we don’t have a symphony, or a theater group for that matter.

Growing up in Butler, I was aware there was a symphony but thought that it was for “rich” people and that it would be very high-brow.

That was a misplaced idea as the orchestra offers various musical programs and the atmosphere and dress code is casual.

There are six programs in the season with a run time of approximately 90 minutes.

Just as I did, step outside your comfort zone — you will be glad you did. I know I am.
