Butler girls soccer now 4-0

The beat goes on for Butler.

Natalie Mason and Chloe Weiland scored goals Saturday as the Golden Tornado girls soccer team defeated Penn-Trafford, 2-0. Mackenna Yaracs had two saves in recording the shutout.

Now 4-0, Butler hosts Shaler for its section opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Lathan Price scored on a penalty kick for Karns City, but the Gremlins dropped an 8-1 decision to Grove City.

Mars senior Grace Wu turned in the third-fastest time by a Planet girl in the last 41 years, running a time of 19 minutes, 41 seconds Saturday at the Red, White and Blue Invitational at White Oak Park.The effort was good for 30th place out of 214 Class 3A female runners.Wu's teammates, Riley Mayer and Kalin Wilson, placed 93rd (21:39) and 97th (21:47), respectively.On the boys side, Mars was led by senior Greg Chernoski, who placed 27th out of 162 Class 2A runners with a time of 17:32.Jack Olshenske was 43rd (18:02) and John Dunn was 61st (18:38).

Summit Academy scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but dropped a 40--14 decision at home Saturday to Springdale.Razir Anderson scored on a 50-yard run for the Knights (0-3) and Kylee Davenport scored on a 53-yard jaunt. Davenport also tossed a two-point conversion pass to Hanif Kent.Summit Academy travels to New Castle Friday.
