Sept. 8 — Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on Whitestown Road near Home Avenue.Police said a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Butler girl rear-ended a vehicle driven by Lea Zancha, 31, of Rochester, Beaver County. Police said Zancha's vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle driven by Cathy Fairbend, 53, of Cranberry Township.Police said no one was injured in the crash and the teen was cited for careless driving.Sept. 7 — Christopher D. Varano, 46, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI, following a two vehicle crash Sept. 7 at the intersection of New Castle and Evans City roads, Butler Township.Police said they could smell alcohol on Varano, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.Police said a later blood test showed Varano's blood-alcohol content at .175%, and in Pennsylvania, a level of .08% is considered intoxicated.Sept. 7 — Mark A. Benz, 53, of Pittsburgh, was charged with multiple counts of drug and paraphernalia possession, related to an incident at Comfort Inn in Butler Township.Police said an employee of the inn told officers Benz would not leave his room after the check-out time expired. Police said when officers confronted him, Benz tried to collect his belongings while concealing a pipe.Police said as they arrested him, they found other paraphernalia and various amounts of crack cocaine, cocaine and prescription medication.Sept. 7 — John W. Austin, 68, of Wexford, was charged with a first-offense DUI, following an investigation into a fence hit by a vehicle July 22 at McDonalds in the Great Butler Mart, Butler Township.Police said Austin's vehicle showed damage, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.Police said a later blood test showed Austin's blood-alcohol content at .270%, and in Pennsylvania, a level of .08% is considered intoxicated.

Sept. 7— Mahlon C. Malcom, 61, of Cleveland, Ohio, was charged with a first-offense DUI, following a Sept. 4 vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 19 and Glen Eden Road, Cranberry Township.Police said they could smell alcohol on Malcom, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired. Malcom refused to have his blood tested after his arrest.Sept. 7 — Nicholas G. Oller, 31, of Pittsburgh, was charged with making a false identification to police, related to a Sept. 4 call to GetGo in Cranberry Township.Police said they dispatched for a man who was stealing from the store. Police said they found Oller outside eating food from the store, and an employee showed that he had not bought the items. Police said when they asked Oller for identification, he gave them a different name.
