David Andrews, an academic coach with the Butler Area School District, is part of the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV (MIU IV) leadership team selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Science Education Leaders (PennSEL) Network, a cohort of leadership teams representing 19 regions across Pennsylvania.

The goal of this group is improving science teaching and learning for all students. The multi-year effort was launched by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and NextGenScience in June 2021.

Andrews is one of seven educators from three school districts in the MIU IV area will work on a statewide team of over 120 IU, community, district and school-based science leaders to build a common strategy for improving local systems of science teaching and learning.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley junior Peter Ko earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.Fewer than half of 1% of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2020, only 5,579 out of 1.67 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University was ranked in several categories by BestValueSchools.org, an online resource that helps prospective college students make career decisions.SRU was named No. 1 on the list of “The Best Colleges in Pennsylvania in 2021.” All the rankings on BestValueSchools.org are based on the company's scoring system that accounts for values including the?cost of attendance, faculty experience, student feedback, the?number of online offerings, student resources, graduation rate, job placement and total enrollment.
