Scoop's grid guessing right on

Three very good weeks in a row? I've done it before, but it's difficult to achieve.

Just when I think I have teams figured out, a bad week can knock me from my perch.

So, with 10 matchups to dissect this week, I'm putting my 15-3 record on the line.

Here we go.

Meadville at Butler — The Bulldogs have scored 95 points in two games. Butler is coming off a week that included no game and no practices.

It's going to be difficult for the Golden Tornado to keep up.

Score: Meadville 30-21

Seneca Valley at North Hills — The Indians' defense is legit, though it has faced two teams with struggling offenses in Mars and Plum.

This week, North Hills meets a Seneca Valley offense that found its groove against Pine-Richland.

A stiff test, to be sure, but the Indians find a way.

Score: North Hills 21-17

Knoch at Deer Lakes — Two teams in search of win No. 1 in 2021.

The Knights' offense gets going against the Lancers.

Score: Knoch 22-8

New Castle at Mars — The Planets looked good on several drives last week, but penalties and turnovers held them to just six points against Shaler.

Mars will continue to make strides offensively, but not enough.

Score: New Castle 27-17

Avonworth at Freeport — Running back Ian Syam scored 11 touchdowns last year for the Antelopes and has five already this season.

He'll be the difference in a nail-biter.

Score: Avonworth 24-23

North Catholic at Blackhawk — The Trojans might as well pitch their tent about 15 miles to the west. This will be their third straight Friday night in Beaver County.

A third consecutive win is in store.

Score: North Catholic 32-14

Central Clarion at Karns City — The Wildcats have played just one game and did not look good in a lopsided loss to Slippery Rock.

Meanwhile, the Gremlins are rolling and that trend continues.

Score: Karns City 33-15

Moniteau at Ridgway — The Elkers are a tough draw for a team trying to find its footing. That's where the Warriors are right now.

Score: Ridgway 31-14

Slippery Rock at Titusville — Both teams are nicknamed the “Rockets”. That's where the similarities end.

Slippery Rock has a lot more fuel to burn.

Score: Slippery Rock 35-12

Springdale at Summit Academy — The Dynamos begin the season 3-0.

Score: Springdale 36-14
