(Though I am) retired from teaching in secondary education many years ago, my personal interest in history continues today.

Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying, “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the Government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them.”

In my opinion to say one “means well” and has “good intentions” does not, in the international world of politics today, offer an insight and perception of reality.

Thomas Jefferson also said, “To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes, the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.”

The saying “history repeats itself “ certainly affects our everyday lives.
