Victim died from blunt-force trauma in fatal crash Friday
State police Monday released the results of an investigation into Friday's fatal car crash in Venango Township.
Shane Michael Fitzpatrick, 22, of Harrisville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Friday night crash near 111 Eau Claire Road.
“(Fitzpatrick) was travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed when (he) lost control of the vehicle,” police said.
The 1999 Pontiac Grand Am left the right side of the road initially, then swerved across the road and off the left side of the road before hitting two trees. Police said Fitzpatrick was ejected from the car.
Butler County Coroner William F. Young III said on Sunday that he found the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and body. An autopsy will not be performed.
