Freeport's 16 hits bury Highlands

Natalie King and Maya Borghol both had three hits to aid Freeport's 16-hit onslaught in a 14-4 softball win at Highlands Friday afternoon.

Autumn Powell and Borghol both drove in three runs and Sydney Selker scored three times for the Yellowjackets (2-2, 1-0).

Knoch 5, Greensburg Salem 4 —Lindsay Edwards doubled and tripled in Knoch's 5-4 win over host Greensburg Salem.

Madi Gardner added three hits for the Knights (2-2, 1-0).

Bailey Rickenbrode ledKnoch in the circle. She surrendered four runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out four.

Baseball

Gateway scored five runs in the fourth inning and held on to defeat Butler, 6-5.

Mattix Clement had two singles, Colin Patterson a three-run homer for the Golden Tornado (4-2).

Mars senior Nathan Skomo finished runner-up in No. 3 singles play at the MAC Tournament, held at Beaver Area High School.

Boys Volleyball

Butler dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting McDowell by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-15.

The Golden Tornado (3-2) travel to Seton LaSalle on Monday.
