Adams Twp. planners OK final approval for Amherst Phase 5

ADAMS TWP — Members of the township planning commission granted final approval for Amherst Village Phase 5 at Wednesday evening's meeting.

Phase 5 will include 52 housing lots along Forsythe Road. It initially came before the planning commission for final approval in January after Phases 5 through 7 received preliminary approval last fall.

In January, township engineer Ron Olsen advised the planning commission to table final approval until outstanding checklist items were resolved.

“We've been working really hard to address all the engineering comments,” said Allan Beechey, project manager and senior engineer for Sheffler & Co.

Olsen confirmed any concerns he had in January have been answered. A pending Homeowner's Association agreement has been reviewed and approved by township solicitor Sean Gallagher.

“Everything's been resolved,” Olsen said.

Martin McKinney, planning commission chairman, said the plan has worked through a “unique set of circumstances.”

He said the planning commission appreciated the patience of those involved with the development.

“It's been kind of a long process,” McKinney said. “I think we're finally done.”

To approve Phase 5, members of the planning commission first approved three separate minor subdivisions, a consolidation of those subdivisions, and an exception for a minor slope encroachment.

Planning commission secretary Marilyn Watson abstained from the votes.

Amherst Village Phase 5 must now obtain final approval from the township board of supervisors.
