Sunday — Police charged Patrick T. Swesey II, 30, of New Castle, with simple assault.According to charging documents, victims reported they were assaulted in their home by Swesey, who allegedly punched them in the nose multiple times.Police said while interviewing the victim, they saw bruising to both eyes and nose. Later, when they talked with Swesey, they noticed swelling to his right knuckles.Swesey has been charged with one count of misdemeanor simple assault. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22.

3:06 p.m. Saturday — Police were dispatched to 221 Main St. in Connoquenessing Township to investigate a report that unknown children were firing BB guns at a speed-limit sign owned by the borough. The sign was valued at $50.1:12 a.m. Saturday — During a traffic stop, state police determined that an unnamed 42-year-old woman was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima under the influence.The woman initially was stopped for multiple traffic violations on Orchid Lane near its intersection with Iris Lane in Brady Township.Police said charges will be filed in the case.6:46 p.m. Thursday — Trevor L. Donaldson, 19, of Butler, was charged with multiple summary offenses relating to a two-vehicle accident on North Main Street in Center Township.Police said Donaldson was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata when he struck a 2004 Peterbilt 330 while trying to pass it. The semi-truck was driven by Alexander M. Wigton, 22, of Butler, and he did not report any injuries.Police said Donaldson fled the scene.Court dockets show Donaldson has been charged with summary offenses of overtaking a vehicle on the left, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give information and render aid and careless driving.2:03 p.m. Feb. 25 — A two-vehicle accident occurred on New Castle Road in Muddy Creek Township.Larry Neal, 76, of Punxsutawney, was driving east on New Castle Road in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Near the road's intersection with Perry Highway, which police said is a no-passing zone, Neal allegedly tried to pass a 2005 Western Star semi-truck driven by Randy Singo, 70, of New Enterprise.The passenger side of the Silverado hit the front driver's side of the semi-truck, which forced Neal and his vehicle off the road and into a guide rail.Monday — Police charged Daniel J. DiVecchio, 22, of Erie, after he allegedly pulled a fire alarm.According to court documents, police said at 12:20 a.m. Feb. 21 they first found DiVecchio hanging by his pants from a fence near the Grove Apartments, where they were investigating a trespass call.Police said he smelled of alcohol, and he had fresh blood on his hands, face and ankles as well as flesh wounds to his ankles.According to documents, a security guard told police they were breaking up a party, when he saw DiVecchio pull the fire alarm and flee on foot.DiVecchio has been charged with misdemeanors of false alarm to a public safety agency, disorderly conduct and loitering as well as a summary charge.His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 14.Monday — Police charged James H. Rock, 58, of East Butler, with a misdemeanor first-offense DUI.According to charging documents, police initiated a traffic stop around 12:24 a.m. Feb. 14 shortly after watching a silver Ford F-150 cross over the road's fog line one time.The documents said during the stop, they identified the driver as Rock, who smelled of alcohol. Police said Rock also admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.Police said Rock showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test, following which they took him to the barracks for a breath test that indicated a blood-alcohol content of .154%. A blood alcohol level of .08% is considered legally impaired.Rock's preliminary hearing has been set for April 7.Monday — Police charged George E. Vanasky, 57, with a first-offense DUI.According to charging documents, police initiated a traffic stop at 1:47 p.m. Feb. 9 on a silver Chevrolet Venture traveling north on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they watched the van cross the white fog line two times.Police said they checked the vehicle's registration, which showed it belonged to another vehicle, and inspection sticker, which was expired.Police said after making the stop, they detected the odor of alcohol and marijuana. Police said Vanasky told them he drank a beer before he left work.The document stated a search of the vehicle produced a metal and camo rubber smoking pipe in the center console and a black container inside the glove box, which held suspected marijuana.Police said Vanasky showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and later consented to a blood draw, which showed marijuana THC in his system.In addition to the DUI charges, Vanasky also has counts of misdemeanor marijuana possession and use of paraphernalia as well as a number of summary charges.His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 12.

10:31 a.m. Feb. 13 — Police responded to a campsite on Catfish Run Lane in Madison Township. Police said they are investigating a criminal trespass incident that may have occurred.The owner of the camp is a Butler County resident.
