KC play tells of 'Cyrano de Burger Shack'

Cast members of the Karns City Area High School musical “Cyrano de Burger Shack” rehearsing recently include, from left, Madison Eyth, Clare Bishop, Caleb Sapp, Lilli Martin and Brayden Stuchell. The musical will be presented in person for a limited audience and through on-demand streaming.

KARNS CITY — The Karns City Area High School Drama Club will present the musical “Cyrano de Burger Shack,” a modern retelling of “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Edmond Rostand.

The show will have live performances limited to 35 tickets per show March 2 through 6.

The school has paid for the license to show the musical on “Broadway On Demand.” The on-demand streaming will be available from March 11 through 14.

Beth Ackelson is the director, and Alison Carey is director of music.

Meghan Haskins is the choreographer, costume coordinator and assistant to the director. Courtney McGrady is the stage manager, and Ackelson serves as set designer.

Bobbie Taylor is the hair and makeup coordinator.

In the play, Cyrano is king of the local Burger Shack, but he can't seem to win the love of his best friend, Roxanne.

When Roxanne confesses her crush on the new burger-flipper, Christian, Cyrano decides that playing Cupid is better than sitting out of the game.

This rollicking musical features hit contemporary pop songs that will have audiences cheering.
