Bowlers moving on

Butler freshman bowler Kelsee McConnell and Freeport sophomore Julia Cummings both placed in the top 10 in Thursday's WPIBL Girls Individual Championship at Mt. Lebanon Lanes.

McConnell rolled a 515 series, which included a high game of 212, to place eighth overall.

Cummings had a 509 series and finished 10th.

Burrell's Lydia Flanagan defeated Elizabeth Forward's Kaylee Christeson, 175-159, in the championship match.

Butler's Madison Weiland (13th), Reegan Malis (14th) and Rachael Blose (20th) each placed in the top 20.

Lauren Bash earned a 26th-place effort for the Golden Tornado and Harley Kriess 33rd.

Freeport's Mackensie Livingston placed 30th.

The top 40 bowlers advance to the regional tournament.
