McKenzie Cooper of Butler is among six students in Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music chosen to participate in the McDonough Museum of Art Honors Recital Series. Cooper is majoring in music education instrumental.

The series is a music competition, which provides performance opportunities for Dana students throughout the semester. Students submit recordings online to a faculty committee, which adjudicates the competition. The six selected students are featured in a high-definition video recording at the museum. Each student also receives a $100 honorarium.

Natasha Petitjean of Cranberry Township has been named on the Fall 2020 Chancellor’s List at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

UA Little Rock recognizes superior academic performance at the end of each semester. To be named to the UA Little Rock Chancellor’s List, a student must have completed at least nine credit hours with a 3.9 GPA or higher.

Karah Nelson of Mars was named as a fall 2020 Distinguished Scholar at Rockford University, Rockford, Illinois.

Students attending Rockford University who earn at least a 3.75 GPA with no grades below “C” and having completed all requirements for the semester are named as Distinguished Scholars.

Emma Lammert of Saxonburg was one of 39 Shady Side Academy students in grades eight through 12 who won 71 awards in the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional competition.

The 11th-grader won a Silver Key in the personal essay category.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. The 2021 national medalists will be announced March 17.

Three Butler County students at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, were awarded endowed scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Natalie Savannah of Butler was awarded the Ferguson Farm Inc. Equestrian and Pre-Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Endowment Fund and Hal and Peggy Moore Operating Scholarship.

Ashlee Shields of Butler was awarded the Kenneth B. Cummins Mathematics Scholarship Endowment Fund, Larry ’63 and Ruth McDougle Scholarship Endowment Fund and David C. Wallach Mathematics Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Kyra Znaczko of Cranberry Township was awarded the Mabel Bauer Scholarship Endowment Fund.
