7:25 a.m. Sunday — Sami A. Taoufik, 18, of Butler, lost control of his vehicle while traveling around a curve and slid off ice-covered Old Plank Road just north of McQuistion Road, hitting a retaining wall and decorative light pole before ending in a ditch.Neither Taoufik nor his passenger, an 18-year-old Butler man, was injured. The vehicle had to be towed.12:05 p.m. Jan. 30 — A pickup truck driven by Dennis John, 45, of Butler, rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on Route 422 at Greenwood Drive. Tanner Richardson, 22, of Butler, was the other driver.Richardson's passenger, Melinda Pivik, 20, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, suffered unknown injuries. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were towed.Feb. 8 — Chad A. Zinkhann, 44, of Butler, was arraigned on felony and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and a summary charge of public drunkenness stemming from a December incident at the parking lot of the Good Guyz Mini Mart on Whitestown Road.Police said Zinkhann drove to the store while intoxicated around 7:15 p.m. Dec. 29. He is free on his own recognizance.

8:20 p.m. Feb. 6 — Amanda L. Taylor, 28, was arrested after police said she allegedly assaulted her sister during a domestic dispute at their home on Lindsay Road.The victim told police that Taylor struck her in the face, causing a swollen red mark under her left eye, according to court documents, and also grabbed her by the throat, causing scratch marks.Taylor was arraigned Feb. 8 on charges of simple assault and harassment. She is free on $10,000 bail.

Jan. 4 — James R. Starr Jr., 36, of Valencia, was charged with being nearly three times the state's legal limit for alcohol in connection with a traffic incident earlier in the month on Park Drive. Police found him sitting in a car with the headlights on and the engine running after they were called for a vehicle speeding up and down the road.Later, police arrested him for suspected drunken driving and took him to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry Township for a blood test. Toxicology results indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.238 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.Starr is charged with driving under the influence.Jan. 4 — Kelly M. Wilkerson, 22, of Valencia, was charged with DUI stemming from a December one-vehicle wreck on the 300 block of Denny Road. Police said her car struck an embankment and rolled over before landing on its wheels around 10:35 p.m. Dec. 30.Wilkerson was apparently not injured. She was latter arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and taken to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry Township for a blood test. Toxicology results allegedly showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.184 percent.3:21 a.m. Jan. 3 — Nicole C. Pietropaolo, 28, of Glenshaw was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop in the area of Route 8 and Denny Road. She was subsequently taken to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry Township for a blood test, which allegedly showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.153 percent.In addition to DUI, she is charged with speeding and driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

11:20 p.m. Jan. 28 — Jason T. Shannon, 32, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at his home on Arlington. Police said they stopped him as he was leaving the home.The victim told police that Shannon pushed her onto furniture and grabbed her by the face, according to court documents. An officer noted that the woman had a bloody nose.The defendant was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and he was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

1:09 p.m. Friday — A Venango County woman was badly injured in a two-vehicle collision at Route 138 and North Main Street in Clay Township. Jane M. Sandieson, 69, of Franklin, was flown by medical helicopter to an unspecified hospital. Police described her injuries as “serious.”Sandieson was a front-seat passenger in a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert F. Sandieson, 68, of Franklin. The vehicle was struck by an SUV driven by Iris J. Vidic, 84, of West Sunbury. Neither driver was injured.Vidic's vehicle had to be towed. Police cited her for a stop-sign violation. The Unionville and West Sunbury volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.3:37 p.m. Thursday — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Franklin Township. The wreck occurred when a car driven by Paul E. Hickok, 63, of Prospect, struck the driver's side of another car at Route 422 and Dick Road.The other driver, Margie J. Lascola, 80, of New Castle, suffered an apparent minor injury, but she refused transport to the hospital. Both cars had to be towed. Police cited Hickok for a stop-sign violation.
