Joseph H. Parisi

Joseph H. Parisi, 68, of Parker, formerly of Chicora, went home to Heaven late Thursday evening, Feb. 4, 2021, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, while in the company of his loving wife and sister. Joe had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Joseph was born May 3, 1952, in Butler. He was the son of the late Lewis A. and Patricia J. Collier Parisi.

He was a 1970 graduate of Karns City High School.

In his earlier years, Joe had been employed at Pullman Standard in Butler, and later worked at the Parker Glass Plant and at Witco in Petrolia. Joe retired from the custodial staff at Sugarcreek Elementary School in the Karns City Area School District.

He was a longtime member of the Chicora Moose Lodge, a social member of the Parker VFW, and the American Legion Post in West Sunbury. He was also a member of the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club in Knox.

Joe enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, going to benefit events and helping others. He also enjoyed the company of his family, many friends and his German shepherd, “Trooper.”

He was always looking forward to family picnics with his grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with friends. When Joe would meet his friends, he was always awaiting their familiar refrain, “Is that you Joe?”

Joe is survived by his loving and caring wife, who was always there for him, Dixie Strauser Parisi, whom he married May 2, 2009, in Chicora; a son, Joseph Parisi and his wife, Ursula, of East Brady; a daughter, Angela Parisi Smith and her husband, Tim, of Templeton; a number of grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; a brother, Thomas D. Parisi and his wife, Linda L., of Templeton; two sisters, Linda L. Livingston and her husband, Robert, of The Villages, Fla., and Karen D. McClanahan and her husband, Kerry J., of Chicora; five stepchildren, Dawn Frisbee and her husband, Bennett, of Fenelton, Heather Nail and her husband, Dan, of Parker, Artie Miller and Becky of Rimersburg, Michael Stewart of Parker, and Lonny Stewart and his wife, Shannon, of Eau Claire.

Also surviving are a number nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Gershak Parisi; and his brother, Ronald L. Parisi.

PARISI — Friends of Joseph H. Parisi, who died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, will be received from 3 to 6:45 p.m. Monday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora.
