Francis J. “Jack” Plaisted

Francis J. “Jack” Plaisted, 71, born on Feb. 22, 1949, was the eldest son to Paul and Mildred “Milly” (Shoaf) Plaisted. He passed to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, on Feb. 4, 2021, in Crawford County.

Jack was a loving and faithful husband for 32 years to Carla Iannotti-Plaisted, and together they had four daughters, (Larry Gorman) Jacquelyn Plaisted of Butler, (J.T.) Cheryle Wilson of Erie, (Josh) Nicole Parker of Fort Worth, Texas, and (D.J.) Brittany McCorry of Butler.

He was the very proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, (Frank) Brandi Novosel of Butler, Marissa Whipple of Butler, Haylee Wilson of Erie, Braylen Wilson of Erie, Marie Parker of Texas, Evan Jones-Parker of Export, Pa., McKenzie McCorry of Butler, Heidi Jo Parker of Texas, Kendal McCorry of Butler, and Carbon Parker of Texas.

He also loved to brag about his great-grandchildren, Benjamin Alexander of Butler, and Hunter Novosel of Butler.

He was the loving brother to Daniel P. Plaisted (Lois) and the late (Ron) Lynn Thompson.

Jack graduated from Butler High School in 1967.

He was active in the Boy Scouts, achieving his Eagle Scout and God and Country Award from Troop 16.

He served honorably with the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam War. He also served with the Army Reserve for 12 years, achieving the rank of sergeant first class. He was an accomplished marksman.

In 1973, Jack joined the Butler City Police department as a foot beat officer, and retired 32 years later as a captain. He loved helping people and made an impact on his community.

In addition to spending time with his wife and family, Jack was a member of the Order of the Arrow, East Butler Hunting and Fishing Club and the Conneaut Lake Sportsman Association.

He loved to ride his Harley with his friends, and you could always see him with a smile as he and Carla rode by.

Jack was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; both parents; his loving sister; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

PLAISTED — Friends of Francis J. “Jack” Plaisted, who died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.
