Former AK Steel property sold for $2.6M

CERTA of Cincinnati Ohio, has acquired the former AK Steel stainless processing plant and the Bantam Jeep Factory from Cleveland Cliffs. A contingency of Butler County representatives toured the facility with the new owner's, brothers Jake and Kris Bamberger Friday morning, November 20, 2020.

The sale of the long-idle AK Steel Plant 2 site in Butler along Bantam Avenue to a Cincinnati-based redevelopment group for $2.6 million was announced Friday.

Demolition of buildings on the 90-acre property, which includes the former stainless processing plant and the former American Bantam Car Co. building, is slated to begin in six to eight months. The new owners, CERTA, hope to sell or rent out the property to manufacturing companies.
