History center free for children

The Senator John Heinz History Center extends free admission for children ages 17 and younger through December, thanks to Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.

“A Very Merry Pittsburgh” features Santa safely greeting guests on Saturdays and six floors of exhibits over 370,000 square feet.

Beginning Friday, visitors can explore holiday traditions in Western Pennsylvania as part of the new “A Very Merry Pittsburgh” holiday experience in the museum’s first-floor Great Hall.

Children can also write and mail their own letters to Santa and enjoy coloring activities.

The museum at 1212 Smallman St. in Pittsburgh is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the door.
