Thanks for standing up for our freedoms

This letter is a thank you to the county commissioners, business owners and individuals who led the fight to protect our constitutional rights during this pandemic.

Remember on Sept. 14, U.S. District Judge Stickman wrote:

State restrictions on crowd sizes violated the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which protects the freedom of assembly

Stay-at-home orders and business closure mandates violated the 14th Amendment’s due process clause.

Business-closure mandates violated the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause

From the 14th Amendment: “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall . . . deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law.”

Judge Stickman also wrote “Good intentions toward a laudable end are not alone enough to uphold government action against a constitutional challenge.”
