Union/A-C Valley bows, 12-10

Noah Lent found Ryli Burritt for a 22-yard touchdown pass with 7:04 remaining and the Smethport defense stifled Union/A-C Valley the rest of the way for a 12-10 win in the District 9 Class A playoffs Friday night.

Union/A-C Valley took a 10-6 lead on a 23-yard field goal by Colton Murray just before the half.

The Falcon Knights had just 35 yards on offense in the first half.

Union/A-C Valley (5-2) had a chance late, but Smethport (7-0) got a final stop to move on to the Class A championship game next week.

Smethport had only allowed 12 points all season entering Friday's playoff game.

Hampton 49, Knoch 0 — The Knights concluded their first winless season since 1970 and just their third one overall.

Knoch trailed 28-0 at the half.

The Knights had a chance to get on the board with a field goal, but had it blocked and returned for a touchdown.
