Constance and George Schawl

George and Constance Schawl of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with an Aug. 30 family picnic.

Schawl married the former Constance Easley on Aug. 29, 1970, at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora.

They have nine children, Gretchen Baker of Worthington, Brendan Schawl of Australia, Stefan Schawl of Camas, Wash., Justin Schawl of Wexford, Jordan Schawl of Butler, Jaculin Stutz of East Butler, Maureen Gill of Flemington, N.J., and the late Connan Schawl and George Schawl. They also have 18 grandchildren.

Schawl retired from Curtiss-Wright.

Mrs. Schawl is a housewife.

The Schawls are members of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler.
