Diocese reports Butler Catholic School has 1 case of COVID

A first-grade class at Butler Catholic will learn remotely due to a positive COVID-19 test.

According to the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, a “person associated with the class” tested positive for COVID-19, causing the diocese to move the one first-grade class to virtual learning.

The diocese did not specify if the person was a student or a teacher, and it did not say when the person tested positive or if the person was symptomatic. Nor did the diocese say how long the class would learn virtually.

No other class at Butler Catholic is affected.

The change with the first-grade class is part of a number of changes around the 39 schools run by the diocese.

The North Catholic High School boys' soccer team will emerge from quarantine Monday, roughly two weeks after a potential exposure to COVID-19 at a match.

A diocesan press release noted that all 27 people affiliated with the team quarantined as a result, and students will return to classes Monday. Practices and matches will resume immediately, as well.
