Bertolo, Scott end golf seasons

Mars sophomore Blake Bertolo finished tied for 26th place out of 48 golfers, carding a plus-6 77 at the PIAA Class 3A boys championship at Heritage Hills Golf Resort Tuesday in York.

Holy Ghost Prep's Calen Sanderson won the state title with a 67.

In Class 3A girls action, Butler junior Paige Scott placed 17th out of 26 golfers after shooting a plus-9 81.

West Chester East's Victoria Kim and Emmaus' Michelle Cox were both even par after 18 holes before Kim won the championship on the first playoff hole.

Landon Mohney had a goal and assist to lead Butler to a 3-1 victory over Bethel Park.Andrew Lucas and Jack Beneigh added a goal each for the Golden Tornado. Carson Knight and Tyler Gillis both had an assist.

Aslyn Pry had 12 kills and two aces as Moniteau defeated Clarion-Limestone, 3-1. Match scores were 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-9.Ivie Scott added nine kills, Emily Zang six aces and Logan Barnhart two aces, three kills and 32 assists for the Warriors.<b>Freeport 3, Burrell 0 —</b> Erica Lampus had 22 service points and eight kills and Cassidy Dell contributed nine kills, 10 points and 24 assists as the Yellowjackets earned a 25-12, 25-9, 25-15 sweep.Senior Emily Schmidt had 22 assists and 11 points and Amber Shirey 10 points for Freeport (11-2, 10-2).<b>Redbank Valley 3, Karns City 1 —</b> Rosalie Carden tallied eight aces, five kills and six digs for the Gremlins in this 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14 loss.Amber Maurer had four kills and six digs for Karns City, Ashley Fox four kills and 11 digs, Emma Johns two kills, two blocks and five digs, Morgan Smith seven kills and Shavon McCanna nine digs.<b>Mars 3, Knoch 0 —</b> The Planets won the match 25-16, 25-20, 25-17. Mykenzie Werner and Madison Raypush both had five kills for Knoch (4-9, 3-9).Mars statistics were unavailable.<b>Slippery Rock 3, Franklin 1 —</b> Virginia Recchia had 24 assists, 29 digs, eight aces and 17 service points as the Rockets won 28-26, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18.Laney McClymonds had 15 digs, six kills, five aces and 12 service points and Klara Wilson 29 digs for the Rockets (5-6).<b>Keystone 3, A-C Valley 2 —</b> The Falcons dropped this match to the Panthers by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25 and 8-15.Andrea Meals and Meah Ielase both had eight kills, Rachel Cullen 25 digs and Tarra Stefanacci 21 assists for the Falcons (8-4).
