6:43 p.m. Sunday — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 at Cooledge Street. Police identified the drivers as Michele Newpher, 54, of Renfrew and Bernie Fitzpatrick, 52, of Butler.A passenger in Newpher's vehicle suffered unknown injuries and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Police did not release the passenger's name. Both vehicles had to be towed.A police report did not provide any other details about the crash. “The accident is still under further investigation and charges are pending,” according to a police report.

Monday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of $52,273 from a 67-year-old Slippery Rock Township man. Police spoke to the man Saturday morning. The incident is being investigated as a case of theft, fraud and forgery. No other information was released.12:41 p.m. Saturday — Ruth S. Bosancic, 53, of West Sunbury lost control of her car and struck an embankment on Sunset Drive just south of Holyoke Road in Center Township. Neither Bosancic nor her passenger was injured, but the car had to be towed.5:50 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Mitchell T. Graham, 26, of North Washington struck a ditch at Sand and Bruin roads in Parker Township. Police said he fled the scene, leaving behind his car, which had to be towed.Police cited Graham for 12 traffic violations, including failing to immediately notify police of an accident, driving without a license, driving a vehicle without insurance, failing to sign or carry his vehicle registration card, driving too fast for conditions, running a stop sign, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving, reckless driving, failing to use hazard lights, driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol, and not wearing a seat belt.10:51 p.m. Friday — An unknown hit-and-run driver struck a utility pole along Route 8 near South Benbrook Road on Center Township, downing live wires onto the road.Police said surveillance video from the scene showed an orange or red sedan hitting the pole in a parking lot. The suspect drove away south on South Benbrook Road.5:33 p.m. Thursday — Brian J. Miller, 31, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-vehicle crash on Route 173 in Slippery Rock Township. No one was injured.The crash occurred when Miller swerved his eastbound sport utility vehicle into the opposing lane to avoid a car that was in front of him, according to a police report. His SUV nearly struck a witness head-on in the westbound lane, police said, and he swerved back into the eastbound lane.Miller sideswiped the car, driven by Diann A. Morse, 74, of Slippery Rock, which was in front of him before traveling several hundred feet and stopping at the intersection of Route 173 and Etna Road.Both vehicles had to be towed. Police said DUI charges against Miller are pending.Oct. 5 — Hilary M. McCrea, 30, of Chicora, was charged with having pills without a prescription and other drug contraband stemming from a July traffic stop in Center Township. She was stopped July 26 on Route 8 for driving a car that had a license plate on it that belonged to a pickup truck.During the stop, according to court documents, McCrea was found with nine unidentified pills, 21 empty stamp bags with residue, a hypodermic needle and other contraband.She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.9:19 a.m. Wednesday — No one was injured when a pickup truck driven by Mathias J. Cajka, 33, of Butler rear-ended another pickup on Mercer Road at Margate Drive in Center Township. Andrew Jespersen, 61, of Evans City was the other driver.Cajka's truck had to be towed. He was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.
