Knoch tennis reaches semifinal

Knoch advanced in the WPIAL team playoffs Wednesday with a 5-0 quarterfinal win over North Catholic at the Butler High School courts.

The Knights dropped only six total games in sweeping the match.

Knoch will take on South Park in the semifinal round Monday at a site to be determined.

Seneca Valley secured its third consecutive section championship with a 2-0 win over Butler at NexTier Stadium.The Raiders (9-1-1) avenged a 2-1 loss to the Golden Tornado in September. Butler slipped to 8-4-1 overall, 7-3-1 in section play.The Golden Tornado host Freeport Saturday night. The Raiders travel to Shaler Saturday.<b>Hollidaysburg 1, Karns City 0 —</b> The Gremlins took their first loss of the season as Hollidaysburg scored on a penalty kick with less than four minutes remaining in regulation at Diehl Stadium.<b>Knoch 5, Highlands 0 —</b> The Knights (4-7, 4-6) host Freeport Thursday.

Andrea Meals had nine kills and 13 digs, but A-C Valley dropped a 3-0 decision to Redbank Valley. Scores were 25-15, 25-23, 25-21.Meah Ielease had six kills and 12 digs for the Falcons (6-3) while Rachel Cullen contributed 12 digs and Tarra Stefanacci 14 assists.A-C Valley plays at Sheffield Thursday.
