North Catholic tennis notches 1st playoff win

North Catholic's girls tennis team picked up its first-ever WPIAL playoff victory Monday, defeating Central Valley, 3-2.

Butler resident Reagan Sommariva and sophomore Riley Pylant won at No.'s 1 and 2 singles for the Trojanettes, respectively.

North Catholic will play top-seeded Knoch at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Butler High School.

Emma Dailey scored three goals as Karns City defeated Redbank Valley, 7-0, Monday.McKenna Martin added a goal and two assists, Avah Burke a goal and assist, Dannika Love and Paige Dodd a goal each.

Eight different players scored for Karns City in a 9-0 victory over DuBois Central Catholic. Myles McCully led the way with two goals.Owen Collwell had a goal and four assists. Adam Smith, Jacob Callihan, Mallick Metcalfe, Colson Ritzert, Luke Anderson and Dane King also scored for the Gremlins (10-0-1).<b>Seneca Valley 2, North Allegheny 1 —</b> Connor Schmidt and Beaux Lizewski scored for the Raiders in this win on the road.SV (8-1-1) sits alone atop the Section 1-4A standings.<b>Butler 5, Shaler 0 —</b> Landon Mohney scored twice, once on a penalty kick, while Carson Knight, Evan Fetter and Ian Llewellyn all added one goal for the Golden Tornado.Assists came from Luca Fusca, Jack Beneigh and Knight.Carson Stein and Noah Wolford both played one half in goal to combine for the shutout for Butler (8-4-1, 7-3-1).

Aslyn Pry tallied six aces and three kills as Moniteau cruised to a 25-3, 25-5, 25-6 victory over Forest Area.Ivie Scott added three aces and six kills, Emily Zang 11 aces.<b>Slippery Rock 3, Karns City 1 —</b> The Rockets won this match by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-27 and 25-13.Tiffany Madison had 17 kills, Laney McClymonds nine kills and 25 digs, Klara Wilson 26 digs and Makenna Shaner 12 digs for the Rockets (4-4).For the Gremlins, Ashley Fox tallied six kills and 25 digs and Emma Johns 11 assists and 11 digs.Natalie Hess added six kills, Rosalie Carden seven kills, five aces and 13 assists and Jessica Dunn six aces.
