1:41 a.m. Sunday — Austin M. Stevenson, 28, was arrested after he allegedly strangled his mother during a domestic dispute at their home on the 200 block of South Chestnut Street. She had visible redness to her throat.The victim told police that the defendant grabbed her by the neck and applied pressure to the point that she could not breathe, according to court documents. He also is accused of pushing her up against a wall or window in the living room.The woman recounted that she was in fear of her life, documents said, and she grabbed a small screwdriver from Stevenson's hand and stabbed him on the “bicep area” two or three times. She said he let go of her, and she went into her bedroom to call police.Stevenson was arraigned on a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail following arraignment.Oct. 1 — Police charged Douglas C. Fudoli, 51, of Butler Township, with having four hypodermic needles and a metal spoon with suspected drug residue on it stemming from an incident last month on the 200 block of East Penn Street.A patrol officer was in his cruiser around 12:35 p.m. Sept. 21 when he allegedly saw Fudoli and an unknown woman make a “hand-to-hand transaction,” according to court documents. Police said they were familiar with the defendant because of prior arrests for drug-related offenses, and they stopped and searched him, and found him with the suspected contraband.Fudoli is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.7:34 p.m. Sept. 30 — Love T. Coleman,18, of Butler, allegedly was caught with marijuana following a traffic stop on West Jefferson Street. Police said Coleman was a passenger in the vehicle, and had a small bag of suspected marijuana in her purse. She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

7:10 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Michael J. Albin, 69, of Butler, struck another SUV that was legally parked along the road on the 900 block of East Jefferson Street. Police believe Albin was having a medical problem. He was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed.6:17 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Tory McCoy, 21, of Butler, rear-ended an SUV on New Castle Road near Barracks Road. The other driver, Noelle Streiff, 21, of Saxonburg, was stopped to make a turn left when the crash occurred. No one was injured, but McCoy's car had to be towed.

Sept. 29 — Jonathan Linton, 38, of Emlenton, was arrested on the 200 block of West Main Street for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order that was issued out of Venango County. He later was released to the custody of state police from the Franklin station.

11:45 a.m. Tuesday — A Fed-Ex driver needed hospital treatment after he suffered a dog bite while making a delivery on Red Bud Road in Center Township. A trooper spoke to the 59-year-old Chicora man at Butler Memorial Hospital.Police said the dog bite left the man with an approximately 3-inch cut to the top of his right hand. The owner of the Rottweiler was identified and notified of the incident, according to a police report. No other information was immediately available.4:10 p.m. Monday — Several people were apparently injured in a two-vehicle wreck at Mercer and East Brewster roads in Center Township. The crash occurred when a car driven by a 17-year-old Butler boy struck a sport utility vehicle that was making a left turn.The other driver, Marnie S. Day-Mannarino, 50, of Butler, and her five passengers, also all of Butler, three of them children, suffered possible injury, according to a police report. No other information about the injuries was available.The occupants in the SUV were not taken to the hospital. Neither the boy, whose name police did not release, nor his passenger, a 16-year-old Butler boy, were injured.Both vehicles had to be towed. The Unionville Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.Sept. 29 — Police charged Alexander L. McCandless, 26, of East Brady, with drugged driving and drug possession stemming from an August traffic stop in Butler. He was pulled over around 9 p.m. Aug. 20 on East Jefferson Street at Third Street.McCandless allegedly admitted that he had marijuana inside a backpack that was in his car, according to court documents.A search of the vehicle, police said, turned up a Ziploc bag containing suspected marijuana, a rubber container containing suspected THC wax, a prescription pill inside an unlabeled pill bottle and other drug contraband.Police took the defendant to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, documents said, which showed he had marijuana in his system.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, McCandless is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He also is charged with seven traffic violations.

8 p.m. Sept. 26 — Oliver J. Burrows, 19, of Farrell was arrested for allegedly leading police on a vehicle chase that ended on Route 208 and Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.He was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and five traffic violations.Burrows was placed in the Mercer County Prison on $5,000 bond following arraignment.
