Some Butler County small businesses were awarded grants to cover operating expenses during the coronavirus shutdown and transition to reopening as well as technical assistance to stabilize and relaunch their businesses.

Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Monday morning that small business owners in all 67 Pennsylvania counties received part of the $96 million in funding, which comes from $225 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds earmarked for small business relief in the state.

Butler County saw 45 businesses receive funding.

Businesses in Philadelphia County received the highest number of grants, at 1,130. Forest County received the fewest, at four grants.

A news release from Wolf's office said a second round of funding is coming. Business owners who applied for but did not receive the current round of funding do not need to reapply and will be considered for the second round.

“This funding will go a long way to help small businesses, including historically disadvantaged businesses, at a time when they need it most,” Wolf said.
