Zelienople’s four-day burn ban was lifted after the borough experienced “sustained rains” this past weekend.
The ban on open burning within the borough was implemented Friday on the recommendation of Harmony Fire District, which suggested to the borough that the recent dry conditions meant a higher-than-usual risk of brush fires.
The borough’s emergency declaration last week noted that the ban would be lifted when color returned to vegetation.
“I am very grateful that the fire district was keeping track of this for us and gave us the advice to (implement the emergency ban),” borough manager Don Pepe said in an email Tuesday.
Other municipalities have not yet lifted their burn bans resulting from the recent drought, including Seven Fields and Mars boroughs as well as Jackson Township.
