12:49 a.m. Friday — Corey J. Shoup, 38, who is homeless, was allegedly caught with 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin and other contraband, including hypodermic needles, in a car at the Butler Memorial Hospital parking lot on East Brady Street. Police said they found Shoup after being called for a man sleeping in a car. Hospital security reported that he had been told to leave earlier after he was found sleeping in his car, according to court documents. Shoup is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespass.

12:47 p.m. Friday — No one was injured in a freak accident on Route 8 in Clay Township. The three-vehicle wreck happened when the front left wheel came off of a northbound sport utility vehicle driven by Josephine B. Miller, 59, of Slippery Rock. The lug nuts from the wheel struck a southbound pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old Butler girl. The wheel hit a minivan headed south and driven by Ronald A. McCall, 62, of Butler.6:43 a.m. Friday — Lucas M. Deal, 18, of Butler lost control of his car when an unidentified vehicle traveled into his lane on Old East Butler Road in East Butler. The car collided with an SUV driven by Daniel L. Barton, 33, of Chicora. No injuries were reported but the car and SUV had to be towed.7:46 a.m. July 20 — Nicholas M. McFadden, 21, of Boyers was seriously injured when his motorcycle slid off Boyers Road while rounding a curve at the crest of a hill in Marion Township, and struck a guardrail. McFadden, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Grove City Medical Center. His cycle had to be towed.10:04 p.m. July 19 — Taje P. Lang, 18, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Bonniebrook Road in Jefferson Township. Lang and his two passengers, both teenagers from Tarentum, Allegheny County, were not injured. Police said Lang was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.5:17 p.m. July 19 — An unknown driver fled the scene of a rear-end crash at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. The wreck happened as both vehicles were leaving the McDonald's restaurant parking lot. Shannon E. Hartman, 30, of Butler was driving an SUV that was hit from behind. Police said Hartman got out of her vehicle to check for damage and asked the other driver, a male, to pull off to exchange information. The unidentified male left without giving information.3:58 p.m. July 19 — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Ambrosia L. Davis, 20, of Grove City and an SUV driven by a 16-year-old Parker boy collided on Fairmont Road in Fairview Township. Police did not release the name of the boy, who suffered an apparent minor injury. The boy's passenger, Diana M. Fair, 67, of Parker, suffered unknown injuries. Davis was cited for making an improper left turn.5:20 p.m. July 16 — No one was hurt when an SUV driven by Barbara L. Gerstel, 58, of Evans City and a pickup driven by Dean W. Wolfe, 60, of Fenelton collided on the 700 block of Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township. Both vehicles had to be towed. Police said Gerstel was cited for making an improper turn.6:07 a.m. July 16 — Lynn E. Adams, 21, of Grove City was injured when she swerved her car to avoid a deer and struck a culvert and embankment on Route 58 just east of Oak Grove Lane in Marion Township. She was taken to Grove City Medical Center with apparent minor injures. Her car had to be towed.6:51 p.m. Feb. 15 — A car driven by Kathleen A. Reed, 35, of Wampum, Lawrence County, struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 north in Jackson Township. She suffered a suspected minor injury.10:53 a.m. July 15 — Tashawa L. Francis, 28, of Chicora lost control of her car and struck an unoccupied car and the garage on Fairmont Road in Fairview Township where that other car was parked. The garage sustained “significant damage,” according to a police report. Police said Francis, who was “fatigued,” was cited for careless driving.11:07 p.m. July 14 — Heather M. Blair, 51, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving struck a large rock along North Duffy Road in Center Township. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Police said she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.3:56 p.m. July 13 — One person was hurt when a pickup driven by Tracie L. Jessen, 52, of Butler and a car driven by Jessica R. Neff, 19, of Chicora collided on Route 68 at the Route 422 west on-ramp in Summit Township. Neff was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Jessen was cited for traffic control signal violation.
