July 10 last day for landowner deer license

Butler County Treasurer Diane Marburger announced the last day to buy a landowner antlerless deer license is July 10, before the sale of regular licenses.

An eligible landowner who owns 50 or more contiguous acres within Butler County is entitled to one antlerless deer license for the wildlife management unit where the land is located for fee of $6.90 for state residents and $26.90 for non-residents. If the qualifying acreage is located with two or more wildlife management units, the applicant selects the management unit he desires.

Butler County has three wildlife management units in its boundaries. A landowner must keep property open to public hunting year-round to qualify.

In addition, the first day the treasurer’s office can receive doe license applications is July 13. The treasurer recommends placing applications in the mail July 10. Only one application per hunter will be accepted for the first round of sales. Non-resident applications will be accepted by mail only beginning July 20.

The first round of unsold licenses will be accepted by mail only Aug. 3. The second round of unsold licenses will be accepted by mail only Aug. 17.

Over-the-counter sales for 2B wildlife management unit licenses is Aug. 24. Over-the-counter license sales for all other wildlife management units is Oct. 5.
