BMH praised for care, expertise and professionalism

There are hospitals, multitudes of quality medical clinics and then there is Butler Memorial Hospital.

I don’t know who runs BMH, and I certainly don’t know all the personnel who work there, but I hope they’ll getting well compensated for their effort.

Recently, I came to their emergency ward with an unknown debilitating lung condition that was slowly shutting down my internal organs.

I was quickly taken in, given treatment and given targeted preliminary tests. Within an hour they stabilized my condition. I was quickly taken up to the coronavirus ward and given a comfortable one-room bed with all the accommodating amenities.

Let me you tell you, I’m an old vet that has visited a few hospitals in my time, foreign and domestic, I sincerely believe you won’t find a better community hospital. I’ve been in the Cleveland Clinic, and the Cleveland Clinic can’t hold a candle to BMH.

All the medical personnel had small transponders pinned to their lapels that interconnected them. Just like the communicators on Star Trek, the health care specialists just tapped the device and were direct immediate communication with all of their team. So cool!

The professionalism, expertise and teamwork was the best I’ve ever seen. The nurses were highly trained, thoroughly experienced to handle any emergency thrown at them. They had access to finest and newest hi-tech medical equipment. Many of the nurses were instructors with master’s degrees. The rest of them weren’t far behind in formal education. Courteous, respectful, compassionate and driven. They made you feel like family. They couldn’t do enough to comfort you. They’re light and lively rapport reminded me of a highly efficient Mash Unit. I was simply taken back by the quality of health care!

My condition wasn’t the dreaded coronavirus. My condition was a bit of an enigma that was related to past years of interrelated illnesses. It took hospital’s on-call physicians and specialists to nail down the disorder and find effective treatment for a 20+yr health problem. It took BMH’s staff only 5 days to diagnose it! My family physician knew they were the best and that’s why he called-in ahead the night they took me in.

I thank God for people like this. I’ve got the wisdom to fully appreciate when a medical organization of such magnitude goes the extra mile for their patients. Going the distance for healing and care is what Butler Memorial Hospital is all about. As a resident of Butler County I understand how fortunate and blessed I am to have such a godsend medical facility.

Thank you BMH. You deserve all our prayers and support.
