Lyndora apartment fire leaves man with minor injuries

A man suffered minor burn injuries Friday morning when his Lyndora apartment unit lit up in flames, according to the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Butler City Fire Department and the township responded to the fire around 6:40 a.m. at an apartment building on Arbor Street and Hansen Avenue, said Christopher Switala, the township's joint chief. He said the fire appears to have started in the living room, and by 8 a.m. it was extinguished.

The fire was contained to the one-bedroom apartment, leaving the rest of the apartment building intact. Switala said Butler Ambulance Service treated the lone resident for the minor burn injuries and was released shortly afterward.

It's unclear what caused the fire and it is still under investigation, Switala said.

“When we arrived, there were flames coming out of the side door and window of the apartment,” Switala said. “The living room was totally gutted and the rest of the unit had significant smoke damage.”
