911th Airlift Wing to flyover Butler Memorial Hospital and VA

A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III T-1 flies over Owens Valley, California, for a test sortie. Edwards Air Force Base, California, welcomed home the aircraft after 208 days of life-extension modifications in San Antonio, Texas. The T-1 is the first Air Force C-17 built to perform developmental testing.

A C-17 Globemaster III aircraft is scheduled to fly over Butler Memorial Hospital & VA Butler Healthcare Hospital on Memorial Day. Butler Health System made an announcement through its Facebook page that the 911th Airlift Wing will fly over the two locations Monday at 11:13 a.m. to honor all health care professionals.

The flyover is part of the Air Force Salutes program, a nationwide effort meant to show appreciation for all those supporting COVID-19 response efforts that is done at no cost to taxpayers.

Citizens are encouraged to maintain social distancing practices while viewing the flyovers.

The majority of the 911th is made up of Air Force Reserve volunteers from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Their mission is to provide airlift, aeromedical evacuation and agile combat support. The flyover is being used to serve as training while safely saluting those supporting our communities through COVID-19.
