JACKSON TWP — Keely Lisco, a Seneca Valley High School senior, was recently announced as a national gold medal and a national American Visions Award winner in the 2020 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Competition.

She won for her mixed media piece titled “Over the Mountains.”

Works receiving Gold Medals will be on display at Parsons School of Design at the New School in New York City June 3-5.

Senior Emma Burd won a national silver medal for her ceramics and glass piece titled “Sloth.”

Three other Seneca Valley students — Kayla Moon, Cierra Denny and Taylor Healy — had their artwork adjudicated in New York City on March 16 after winning Gold Keys in the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Competition.

Seneca Valley Silver Key recipients include Shawn Mill, Kayla Moon, Kristen Bedell, Max Carpenter, Kathryn Curtis, Kelsey Gianfrancesco, Angelina Khoury, Faith Liston, Victoria Lydon (two Silver Keys), Addy Malak, Reagan Neff, Emilee Neuman, Lexi Peffer, Mary Reese, Ella Reynolds (two Silver Keys), Bethany Rice, Taylor Stofko, Corin Trejchel and Sean Tweed.

Also, several Seneca Valley students received honorable mentions for their entries, including Veronica Grassell, Adrien Koromaus, Kayla Moon, Mariah Baker, Kathryn Curtis, Kelsey Gianfrancesco (six honorable mentions), Taylor Godleski (two honorable mentions), Madison Hatcher (two honorable mentions), Grace Hilling, Allison Jaecke, Simren Jayaraman, Katie Kamarec, Keely Lisco, Grace McSwaney, Tia Myers, Emilee Neuman, Chloe Roy, Rachel Smith, Maura Taylor (three honorable mentions), Brian Whitney and Claire Williams.

HAMILTON, N.Y. — Two Butler County students earned a dean's award at Colgate University.Adrienne Nardone of Ellwood City and Ethan Reiser of Slippery Rock received a Dean's Award with Distinction, after earning a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing at least three courses for a conventional letter grade during the fall 2019 semester.

Sara Swarlis of Cabot has been named to Moore College of Art & Design's dean's list for the fall 2019 semester. Swarlis is an art education major at the Philadelphia college.To be eligible for the dean's list, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.65 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Cedarville University lauded its 2020 graduates May 2 with an online Class of 2020 Senior Celebration.This celebration will not replace commencement, which will be Oct. 2 and 3 during Homecoming Weekend with full regalia.Cylie Aronsohn of Cranberry Township graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.Alexandra McMurray of Boyers graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

Reilly Martin, a 2020 winner of the Carson Scholar Fund, is 13 years old and is a graduating 8th-grader at St. Wendelin Catholic School.The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities.Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service.
