Police and first responders from across Butler County form a lengthy procession Wednesday in honor of Sheriff's Deputy Michael W. Smith, who died of natural causes Friday at his Fenelton home. Wednesday's services began at Hile Funeral Home outside of Chicora. The procession, which officials estimated included about 50 vehicles, traveled from the funeral home through Chicora, concluding at St. Wendelin Cemetery east of Butler.
