Butler VA reports first confirmed case of COVID-19
The Butler VA Health Care System has reported its first confirmed case of the coronavirus.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs began tracking cases in veteran patients on its website Friday, and listed a Butler County site as having one confirmed case of COVID-19, in an outpatient veteran.
No additional information was available about the patient or which facility they visited.

The Butler patient is one of more than 2,100 confirmed coronavirus cases across the VA system, which has to date reported 78 deaths.Butler's veteran health care provider began screening all entrants into its facilities March 9, including asking questions about recent travel, exposure to a confirmed coronavirus patient and any symptoms that could be related to the virus.The Butler VA has also been “organizing space” in the Sergeant Joseph George Kusick Community Living Center in Butler Township for additional non-coronavirus patients, however, Paula McCarl, a public affairs officer, said the system is not moving residents inside the facility. No other details were provided.There are 75 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Butler County as of noon Friday.
