Let us confront this threat bravely and wisely

Pastor John Pistorius

Historically, the people of this land stood firm in times of crisis. Hence the label: “Home of the brave.”

When enemies attacked, we defended.

When disaster arose, we united.

When disease struck, we fought it with everything we had.

Sure, every battle brought casualties. But in each of these times, and others like them, the people of faith turned to almighty God in prayer. And we arose victorious over the enemy!

It's written, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

It is also written that “The LORD is near to all who call upon Him. To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He also will hear their cry and save them.” (Psalm 46:1; 145:18-19 NKJV)

As we face this unseen enemy today, let us resolve to be like our ancestors. Let us confront this threat bravely and wisely.

Let us not cower in fear.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Panic not. Instead, bravely stand!

Let us turn to our creator and bow our hearts before Him. Let us ask Him to cleanse us. Let us call upon Him for mercy.

“His mercy endures forever” is found about 40 times in the Scriptures.

If we ask we will receive. Ask for mercy.

It's written, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

But James doesn't stop there. He continues with, “Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

You see, God has not left us. This nation was founded upon principals of truth, justice and morality.

We need only return to our foundation to get through this storm. Fear not, and hear Him calm the storm.

“Peace, be still.”

And as it's written, “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He will save us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5

As it is written in Psalm 23, “Yea, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil. For He is with us. His rod and His staff, they comfort us.”

The Lord chastises those whom He loves. Let us rejoice in His love.

Let us turn to hear His voice calling to those He loves. Let us return to Him as our first love. Let us heed the examples given in the Bible. They are for our learning.

Turn to Him and live. He has “no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:32

And remember the words of the prophet, “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
