2 suspects sought for trying to break into vehicle

Butler Township police caught a pair of attempted vehicle break-in suspects in the act early Thursday on Grandview Boulevard.

The would-be thieves ran away but left behind some of their intended loot, including several pairs of sunglasses.

Officers initially were called about 3 a.m. for a report of two white males carrying backpacks trying to get into a parked vehicle, police said.

An officer arrived and came upon the suspects as they were attempting to break into a truck in the 200 block of Grandview. The two males ran away, ignoring the officer's call to stop. The officer gave chase, but to no avail.

Back at the truck, police recovered five pairs of sunglasses and a package of food that was left in front of the vehicle.

Both suspects had bandanas covering their faces. One of the males was wearing a camouflage jacket or hooded sweatshirt and light-colored blue jeans. The other male was wearing a black- colored jacket or hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored blue jeans.

Lt. Matthew Pearson said that as 9 a.m., police had not received any vehicle break-in reports.

Anyone with information or anyone wanting to claim the items recovered are asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
