One part-time employee for Concordia at the Orchard in Center Township has tested positive for the coronavirus in Butler County.

The organization was informed Sunday and issued a statement at 8:30 p.m. that day.

“We are actively monitoring and screening our residents for signs and symptoms,” said Frank Skrip, director of public relations for Concordia.

The part-time employee last worked March 24 at Concordia at the Orchard in Center Township and did not exhibit symptoms at that time.

Skrip said Concordia determined the employee's footprint and notified residents, their families and other employees. He said Concordia will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines in evaluating when the employee may return to work at the personal care facility.Concordia also activated its COVID-19 action plan at the Orchard location, which includes suspending all visitation and keeping residents isolated for the next five days. These restrictions will be re-evaluated then.“Right now, we do not have any confirmed cases of any residents at any of our locations,” Skrip said.Concordia officials said they understand the need to connect with loved ones at the facility and recommended telephone, email, text or video chat. Concordia staff assists residents who do not have that capability.Since mid-March, Concordia leadership has been meeting daily to assess the virus' progression in the region, make operational adjustments and plans for this expected incident.Weeks ago Concordia, like senior living facilities across the state, already temporarily changed its visitation policies following CDC recommendations.“If people could keep us in their prayers, we would appreciate it,” Skrip said.
