SRU field hockey coach resigns

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University field hockey coach Julie Swiney has resigned that position after 10 years.

Swiney is leaving the program for family reasons. Her husband has been named head baseball coach at the University of Mary Washington and the family is relocating to Virginia.

Swiney was 68-117 at SRU with 75 of the losses coming against top-10 ranked teams. She coached 23 All-PSAC players, eight All-Americans, and had the highest team GPA in all of Division II field hockey seven times in her 10 years.
