Home delivery for students

Gary Thompson, a police officer for the Butler Area School District, drops off bags of food to students' homes Friday along Negley Avenue. School police force members took to the streets as part of the district's food service initiative that is providing 1,300 students with two meals a day, seven days a week during the school closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The 18,000 meals served each week include both hot, reheatable and cold meal and are delivered three days a week. While 65 percent of the meals are being delivered to students who registered, 35 percent of the meals are being picked up at Center Avenue and Emily Brittain sites.
