Congressman Kelly diagnosed with COVID-19

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-16th), whose district contains a large swath of Butler County, tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Friday.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, whose district contains a large swath of Butler County, tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Friday.

In a Friday statement, Kelly said he began experiencing mild flu-like symptoms early the week of March 23 and his physician ordered a COVID-19 test. The congressman obtained the test at the drive-through site at Butler Memorial Hospital, and his results came back positive Friday afternoon.

Kelly is the fifth sitting member of Congress — and the fourth in the U.S. House — to test positive for the respiratory illness. He said his symptoms, which he did not specify, are mild.

“My symptoms remain mild, and I will serve the 16th District from home until I fully recover,” his statement read.
