Virtual concerts offered weekly by Duquesne's School of Music

Duquesne University’s Mary Pappert School of Music will offer orchestra music on Friday nights through May.

The School of Music will release a previously recorded concert by student or faculty ensembles at 7:30 p.m. Fridays on its YouTube channel. The series, “A Little Friday Night Music,” is a play on Mozart’s famous Eine kleine Nachtmusik, A Little Night Music.

To kick off the series, the school will release a video from the Jan. 12 Best of the Bluff concert, featuring Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members and Duquesne music faculty.

The concert will include a performance of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, featuring Ken Gormley, Duquesne president, as narrator. Daniel Meyer, director of orchestral activities in the Mary Pappert School of Music, conducts.

The Best of the Bluff series is a two-year chamber music series featuring favorite works from previous years’ series resulting from audience polls.
