March 16 — Merle C. Maharg, 61, of Butler Township allegedly was caught with three stamp bags of suspected heroin following a traffic stop last month on North Main Street near Belmont Road. She was pulled over about 10:50 a.m. Feb. 28 after police saw her and knew she was wanted on a bench warrant.She is charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substanceMarch 16 — Police charged Todd A. Moore, 51, of Butler with having marijuana and other contraband stemming from a traffic stop last month on East Wayne Street. He was stopped about 9 a.m. Feb. 5 for running a red light.Officers subsequently searched his pickup, according to court documents, and found a bag of suspected marijuana in the center console as well as a metal spoon and copper scrubber. Moore is charged with possession of small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.6:19 p.m. March 9 — David N. Demharter, 22, of Butler left the scene of a crash, police said, after the car he was driving struck another vehicle at West New Castle and North Bluff streets. He is charged with hit-and-run, driving without a license and a stop sign violation.5:40 p.m. March 4 — Joshua R. McWilliams, 37, of Butler was caught driving with a DUI suspended license at Lyon and Garfield avenues. Police noted that he has two prior convictions for the same offense. He is charged with driving under suspension-DUI related, a misdemeanor.11:34 a.m. March 1 — Shauna M. Cress, 34, of Butler allegedly was found with a crack pipe after she was arrested on a bench warrant while driving a car on Walker Avenue. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

March 12 — Police charged Zane V. Wheeler, 22, of Butler Township with being more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit for alcohol stemming from a crash last month on Litman Road. The wreck happened about 2:35 a.m. Feb. 28 when he hit an embankment.During the investigation, police said they took Wheeler to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.214 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.Wheeler is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.March 12 — Police charged Justin D. Konchar, 23, of Lyndora with DUI in connection with a traffic stop last month on High Street. He was pulled over shortly after 1:35 a.m. Feb. 22 after police got a call for a speeding motorist that nearly struck a house.Konchar eventually was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. Toxicology results later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.171 percent

1:56 a.m. Sunday — Kenton L. Gilstrap, 57, of Renfrew lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Valencia Road in Forward Township. He was not hurt, but his car had to be towed. Police cited Gilstrap for disregarding traffic lanes and texting while driving.2:25 a.m. March 15 — Tonya L. Durand, 33, of Prospect was arrested for driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Meridian Road near Highland Avenue. She later was taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.19 percent, according to court documents, more than twice the 0.08 percent legal limit.Durand is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
