Monday — Brian L. Edwards, 38, of Summit Township was charged with having marijuana and other drug contraband stemming from a Jan. 30 traffic stop on Eau Claire Street. Police said he turned over a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a marijuana vape.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

3:29 a.m. March 1 — David L. Nading, 61, of Summit Township was arrested for drunken driving after his car struck a utility pole on the 700 block of Center Avenue. The crash damaged the pole and a metal railing in front of a house.

Nading later was taken for a breath test, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.167 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

11:36 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Corey Pettigrew, 23, of Butler struck a utility pole at Meridian Road and Roe Avenue. Pettigrew was not injured. Police said the crash is under investigation.

6:34 p.m. Friday — Jacob M. Nathanson, 31, of Pittsburgh was allegedly found with marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop on New Castle Road. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and an emission inspection violation.

10:08 a.m. Thursday — Melissa N. Orstead, 31, of Summit Township was arrested for felony shoplifting after she was allegedly caught taking $83 worth of clothing at the Target store at Butler Commons.

Police said after Orstead walked out of the store with the merchandise in her purse, an employee stopped her on the sidewalk. She refused to return to the store, according to court documents, and ran away after dumping the clothing items on the ground.

Officers searched the area and eventually found Orstead. Police noted she has three prior shoplifting convictions, all in Tennessee. Because of those convictions, she is charged with a felony count of retail theft. She is free on nonmonetary bond.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

March 3 — Korry J. Weaver, 28, of Summit Township was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic stop last month in Butler. He was pulled over around 12:10 a.m. Feb. 28 on West Penn Street near North Chestnut Street.

Police subsequently took him for a breath, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.191 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Weaver is charged with driving under the influence, driving a vehicle with improper sunscreening and careless driving.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

12:59 p.m. Sunday — Delino Franklin, 20, of Evans City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Findley Township. Police said charges are pending lab results.
